Unruly PaperArts March Guest Artist Pt2

If you read my post from March 15th, you probably already know that I was invited to be a Guest Artist on the Unruly PaperArts  online magazine this month. What an absolute pleasure for me and what a great honor.  Another thing I am very excited about is that their issue this month is all about recycling in art, which most of you know I am very passionate about.

 Altered Puzzle Piece Handmade Book

All total I created three different project for this issue, one of  which is a Puzzle Page book I mentioned in my early post and then I shared the front cover. Today I am sharing a couple more pages from my Puzzle Page Book as well as a Steampunk Shadow Frame.

I really enjoyed creating these projects especially the Puzzle Page Book because it is vibrantly colorful, very different and just a little quirky which really suits my style of art. I plan to add more pages to my book at a later date but in the meantime I hope you will go visit my Guest Spot page on Unruly PaperArts and check out the rest of the pages I have created so far.

I would also love to know what you think of my projects and hope you will leave me a comment to let me know you had a look. Besides my Puzzle Piece Book and my Steampunk Shadow Frame you will find a few more surprised which include my 3rd project.

At the very bottom of my Steampunk Shadow frame above are 3 little silver cylinders. These are not something I have ever seen recycled in art before and if you would like to know what they are  you will have to go check out the magazine. While you are there please be sure to check out the whole thing as there is lots of inspiration and wonderful art there.

All the designs used in my projects including many of the backgrounds come from my various digital stamp collections which can be found on my CS Designs Online Store

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you enjoyed a gimps of some of my projects. If you would like to see the rest of my pieces with more photos please visit my my Guest Artist spot on this issue of Unruly PaperArts.

Thank you so much Danie for the lovely invitation, I enjoyed it thoroughly, :)

Unruly PaperArts March Guest Artist

It was such a nice surprise when I received an email from Daine, of Unruly PaperArts inviting me to be a  Guest Artist in their online magazine for March. How cool is that and the best part is that their issue for this month is all about recycling in art which is not only right up my ally but something I am also most passionate about.

All total I created 3 projects for them, an Altered Puzzle Piece book, A Steampunk Shadow Frame and a couple of Altered Wooden Dominoes all of which you will be able to see in the second half of my Guest Spot on the 27th.

Although all my projects will not be view-able until the 27th, I also did an Interview with them which is Online Right Now. If you really want to know what makes me tick, I hope you will go and check out what I had to say and let me know what you think.

You will find My Interview with Unruly PaperArts through the link directly below

Because I believe any post is nothing without a little dressing up in way of a bit of art work, I am including a sneak peek at my Puzzle Piece book. Below is the front cover, and you can see a bit of the other pages peeking out around the edges. The book itself was made from giant pieces of  a Children's Puzzle.

Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you have enjoyed seeing the cover of my Altered Puzzle Piece Book and will also go check out my interview. Once there be sure to look around the rest of the issue as there is lots of fantastic artwork by other artists.

Life Like a Circus Altered Sardine Can

I made an Altered Sardine can back in 2012 and and I loved it so much I have been intending to make another ever since. This one was made especially for the March challenge at Altered Eclectic.

CS Designs Life like a Circus Altered Sardine Can Front view

I love this can because it is shorter and fatter than all the others so I was able to add quite a few elements to it.  The endearing clown is from my new line of Curios, Collectable and Ephemera digital stamp collection. and I colored him with Prismacolor pencils and blended hims with odorless turpentine. I have tried copic markers but keep coming back to my colored pencils. The sentiment is also new. I didn't have any sentiments with a circus theme so just came up with this one.

The Sardine Can:
Because these types of cans are so shiny, it is often hard to get paint to stick to them so to start I gave it a couple of layers of Modge Podge and when dry painted on a layer of Orange Acrylic Paint. In between coats, I also added layers of Gel Medium and applied a bit of Yellow, Red and Metallic Blue. Because I wanted it to look rather distressed, I applied some layers with a small sea sponge.

I though the outside of the can looked rather plain, so I added some torn pieces from a couple of old book pages and then painted them with a light was of orange acrylic and then added some of the same colors I applied to the rest of the can.

Additional Elements.

As can be seen under the other elements I also added bits of the book pages to the inside of the sardine can. At the top I added a punched flowers and directly over that I created a coil from my gold jewelry wire, then added a gem for a bit of bling. The Orange netting is actually a piece of plastic bag Onions came in. I have been saving it for Halloween but think it is perfect for this project. The Orange and Black Diamond Background is one of my original designs from my Digital Engraving background digital stamp series. which yo can find on my CS Designs shop.

Clara Bow Life Is Magical Art Tag

It's time for another great challenge at Eclectic Ellapu and this month I created an Art Tag with My original Clara Bow digital stamp design.  I colored Clara with Prismacolor pencils and blended them with odorless turpentine using paper stumps. My tag was sitting on my Dining Room table today after I took photos of it and my Hubby walked by and noticed it and said, "You seem to use her alot" and I really do,there is just something I love about here, she looks a little sexy but also quite demure.

The metal clip at the top is a hanger for hanging Christmas cards on a line of cording.  I have had the turquoise cording for a few years now and originally bought it to make macrame dragon flies. The little dangle came from a second hand necklace. The sentiment, text background and text on the punched flower are also digital. I hope you will stop Eclectic Ellapu and share your projects with us. As always the team has also made some fabulous projects you do not want to miss. Thanks for stopping by today, and hope you enjoyed my Clara Bow Art Tag and hope you have a great day. I also look forward to seeing your lovely projects on Eclectic Ellapu.
