Steampunk Solitaire Round Heavy Metal

You would not believe how much fun I had making this little metal wall hanging. Not only did I have fun coloring my new Steampunk Solitaire, but I got to smash, fold, spindle and mutilate, which is always a great way to spend the day. The main focal point for this is one of the designs from my  new Steampunk Collection. Part of the collection is being released today and the rest in the next few days for our challenge on Art With No Boundaries on June 4th. The lovely Solitaire has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine.

The frame is actually a smashed canning jar lid and it has been embellished with all kinds of doodads including a couple of pieces of old chain, a metal butterfly I bout a few years ago, some gold wire and a couple of unknown oddities with the word Cleaver stamped into them. Well the little rounds are not really unknown to me, but you will have to guess what they are.

Want to Win This Design?

About now you might be thinking you have no idea what they are, and who really cares. Well you might care because if you can figure it out what they are and will send me the correct answer, you will be entered into a draw to win this beautiful Solitaire design used to create this metal hanging.

The winner will be selected on June 15th by Random Org from the list of players with the collect answer.

Put on your thinking caps because, you have to answer correctly in order to be included in the draw. Not even my Designers got this one, so surprise, you can play too.  Be sure not to post your answer to the web or the comment area as you don't want to give away your answer to the competition.

This Steampunkk Soliaire Round was created for the Heavy Metal challenge on Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Invent challenge which was just posted today. This challenge is also a tribute to the Handy Men in our lives and to celebrate Father's Day, so this would be a good time to go look at what those handy men have been saving and ask sweetly if we can use it in our Art. The oddities in question previously belonged to my Hubby.

Steampunk solitaire is also being featured along side the fabulous examples by the CS Design Team, on our Recycle, Re-Purpose Re-Invent challenge blog. All the examples are Heavy Metal, are all absolutely fabulous and your just going to love what everyone created.

New Designers: We have also added 3 new designs to the CS Designs Team, so be sure to stop by their blogs, congratulations and have a look around at their beautiful art.

This  month we are again having two different challenges on Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Invent. The first is an Anything Goes and the theme for our Bonus Round is called Heavy Metal and you guessed it you have to use something metal. Those who play in our Bonus Round will also have a chance to win the Steampunk Solitiaire. This gives you two chances to win so what are you waiting for, shos us some metal.
Besides having the possibilities to win the Beautiful Steampunk Solitaire on my Doodle Pieces, you can also have a chance to win by playing the Bonus Round on Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Invent, so come and join  us and show us some Metal.

I've been working on new Steampunk designs for over a year now and hope you like this little glimps, I will add more when I have time.

Break Our Heart Paper Art Doll

I have really been enjoying creating these Paper Art Dolls, this past month. This week I have created another one using the Striped Circular Scalloped Frame from my new Digital Stamp Frame Collection. The Break our Heart sentiment is one of my new original sentiments and will be available in the CS Designs Store tomorrow.

I use the Striped Circular Petal Frame to frame her face The face was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine. The Circular Petal Frame was colored with Sharpie markers and the Doodle Art on her legs and arms were created with a white gel pen. The face and the body template are from my soon to be released Paper  Art Doll Templates. The "Never Too Old Sentiment" is from my Express Yourself Series.

Break Our Heart Paper Doll was created for and is being featured on this fortnight's Anything Goes / A Frame of Mind challenge on Art With No Boundaries.

This week we are again having two different challenges at the same time, an Anything Goes challenge and a special Bonus Round challenge called A Frame of Mind. We are also offering another prize for our Bonus Round this week so drop by for a chance to win and have a look at the rest of the Teams fabulous examples while you are there. Never too Old Paper Art Doll

I had so much fun with my Spirelli Copper Art Doll I made last week that I decided to make another Paper Art Doll. This time I used some of my new Original Digital Frame Designs. I use the Striped Circular Petal Frame to frame her face and the Striped Square Scalloped Frame over her body. Instead of cutting out the middle of the frames, I left them intact. The face was colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine. The frames were colored with Sharpie markers and the white is gel pen. The face and the body template are from my soon to be released Paper  Art Doll Templates. The "Never Too Old Sentiment" is from my Express Yourself Series.

Never too Old  was created for and is being featured on this fortnight's Anything Goes / A Frame of Mind challenge on Art With No Boundaries.

We also love it when you share your art with us so be sure to add your creations to the challenge.

Spirelli Copper Art Doll

I've been  on an Art Tag and ATC kick for a while and decided it was time for something a little different. This Spirelli Copper Art Doll was created for and is being featured on the second week reminder post of the Anything  Goes / Fit to Be Tied challenge on Art With No Boundaries.

This week like last week we are having two different challenges at the same time, an Anything Goes challenge and a special Bonus Round challenge called Fit to be Tied.We are also offering the Gentle Heart sentiment shown at the bottom of this post as a prize for the Bonus Round so be sure drop by and check out both challenges.

My Spirelli Copper Art Doll was created with on of my soon to be released paper doll templates and the round toothed piece with the copper embroidery  thread framing her face is one of the shapes from my original Spirelli, Manual Cut Ready to Print Kit. The face is from a new series I'm working on at the moment. The copper and gold circle around her face as well as the copper and gold blow at her waist has been recycled from a greeting card, I love raised embossed texture on both. The photo doesn't do it justice, in real life it looks like embossed metal.

The A Gentle Heart sentiment on the right is the prized being offered for the Bonus Round in this weeks Anything Goes  Fit to Be Tied challenge on Art With No Boundaries. Drop by and have a look at the rest of the Teams examples all are Fit to be Tied. We also love it when you share our art with us so be sure to add your creations to the challenge while you're there.

The top corner piece wrapped with silver embroidery thread is one of the shapes from my original Spirelli, Manual Cut Ready to Print Kit. The rose background is recycled from an old greeting card.

Solitaire Swirl Monocle Bingo Chip

It's time for another challenge  at Recycle, Re-Purpose & Re-Invent hosted by CS Designs and this month we are having a combination theme of Anything Goes with a special sub-theme called A Plastic Existence were the Team would like to invite you to join us in recycling Plastic in your Art.
I created this ATC for the recycle challenge and it is being featured this month along with the Team's examples. The main focal point is the beautuful Solitaire Swirl & Monocle and she has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine.
The round eye piece shown over one of her eyes is an old recycled plastic Bingo Chip. I went to a swap meet a few years ago and bought a basket full of all kinds of odds and ends I planed to use in my art. Once I got home and went to check out what I had bought, I discovered a bag full of old plastic Bingo Chips at the bottom of the basket.

I've had these chips stored in one of the large drawers in my art room since I got them and though this was the perfect opportunity to use at least one of them. I think this chip looks like it was made especially for Solitaire and can't wait to try a few more on her. While most of the chips in the bundle are red and orange, there are also a couple of really pretty blue ones that I can't wait to use now that I've figured out what to do with them. I also thought I might try drilling holes in some of them to use as buttons.

Both the base and the background on this Atc are also recycled and I have use a couple of pieces of old greeting cards. There is a second hand store that I visit frequently that sells packages of used card fronts and I have baskets full of these so it is always easy to find the perfect color combination when I create art from scraps.

Be sure to check out the new Anything Goes / A Plastic Existence Recycle challenge. This month we are offering another special recycle sentiment as a prize. This is a special sentiment that is not available in the CS Designs store and the only way you can win this one is to play in our Recycle, Re-Purpose- & Re-Invent Bonus Round and show us some plastic in your Art.
