CS Designs Angeline Christmas Joy Art Tag

Angeline is such a fun design I just couldn't resist making another Art Tag with her. Because it is getting so close to Christmas, I chose the traditional colors of red and green.

The main focal point on the tag is Angeline from my Christmas Digital Stamp Collection, and the Joy sentiment is from the same collection. Angeline has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine. The long beads are hand rolled paper made from text weight paper I got at the dollar store. The little silk ribbon flower is one I made a couple of years ago and have been saving for just the right project and once I got all the materials together for this tag I knew it would make the perfect addition.

This Art Tag is also being featured this week on the Red and Green challenge at Art With No Boundaries.

CS Designs Angeline Hidden Beauty

Angeline is one of my new Christmas Digital Designs. I made her with Christmas in mind but once I saw her in print something totally different emerged in my mind. I decided she needed to be just a little bit Goth and therefore the black and purple. I especially like the little red halos around her eyes, kind of how I look after I have spent too long drawing on my computer. The painted layer peeking behind the red one was done with a page from an old art supply catalog and various colors of acrylic washes. The beads are all hand rolled paper and Angeline has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine. Once I colored Angeline and saw how different she looked, The words for the sentiment just popped into my head and seem to fit perfectly. Perhaps we should always look deeper than what is on the surface, what we fine might just surprise us.

While not your usual Angel, she is still beautiful if you look deep enough. Her Angelic personality seems to shine through no matter what color she is and hope you like her too.

This Art Tag was created for the current challenge Angels or Wings at Art With No Boundaries Challenge Blog which is sponsored by CS Designs

CS Designs Loreley Voice Of The Sea

I really haven't used alot of orange in my past creations but I love the warmth or the orange in this tag next to the cool turquoise. The color combination really seems to work well together. Since it is so close to Halloween, it was also a great way to use Fall/Halloween colors in something more arty.

The main focal point on the Art Tag is Loreley and she is an original digital design from my Ocean,Sea and Aquatic Collection. Loreley has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine.
The Sentiment is also one of my designs which you can see more of on my CS Designs

Loreley Voice of the Sea  has been entered in Fabulous Faces challenge on Our Creative Corner. I love the Face theme and thought it would be alot of fun to play along so challenged my Design Team to create something for this one too. Be sure to go have a look at all the great art.

CS Designs Priscilla's Pumpkin Outfit Step Card

I have been wanting to make a step card for some time now  and this week I finally got up the nerve to try it. One of the reasons it took me so long to dive in is because I thought it would be difficult but in reality it was quite easy and alot of fun. I am more of a fan of ATCs and Tag Art but I really like how this card turned out and think I will be playing with this type of card again. I though about posting a template but there are so many around I figured it would be rather like re-inventing the wheel so decided against it. If you would like to try one of these yourself, just do a search on Google for step cared template and you will find several to choose from.

The main design on this card is from my original Precious Priscilla Digital Stamp Series and this one is her in her Pumpkin Outfit all ready for Halloween. Priscilla has been colored with Prismacolor penciled and blended with odorless turpentine. The sentiment if from my Halloween, Goth & Macabre Sentiments.

CS Designs Bone-Ap-Art's Coffin

Bone-Ap-Art is a little white skeleton who has been hanging around my art room for about 20 years and I thought it was time to take him out of the drawer where he’s been languishing and give him a better place to rest his weary bones. With Halloween just around the corner, what could be more appreciate than his own stylish coffin guarded by his beloved Psychosis, and a prominent place on a shelf where everyone can stop by and visit him. You can see by his big grin that this has made him very happy.

The hauntingly beautiful square face on the lid of the coffin is named Psychosis and she is a Digital Stamp Design from my new Haunting Apparitions collection. The orange and black Halloween background on the top of the coffin is also new and from a series called Digital Engravings which will be reveled later today and a collection which I plan to add to throughout the year for every and all occasions.
Bone-Ap-Art and his Coffin is also showcased for this weeks Fortnight challenge at Art With No Boundaries.

CS Designs Celebration of Fall ATC

It’s been a while since I have made anything but a tag, and I had almost forgotten how much fun these could be to make. The main focal point for this ATC is one of my original Arty Expressions digital designs which has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine.  I use a postage stamp die cut, a flower punch, some metal embellishments and several layers of torn paper for this one. The deep rich rust, gold and browns of this ATC are just perfect for the new Art With No Boundaries challenge this week which is “A Celebration of Fall”

CS Designs Starfish Distressing and Paper Beads

My latest Art Tag is all about inspiration and was created especially for the CS Designs / Art With No Boundaries Any Thing Goes Challenge is week. Every Fortnight is a different challenge but the main focus is always to be inspiring to others.

The main focal point of this Art Tag is called The Starfish and is from my new Ocean / Aquatic Digital Stamp Series. The Starfish like most of my precious tag designs has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine. While this should be inspiring all on it's own I have also made the orange beads and the distressed background.

How To / Paper Beads with a difference: The orange colored beads that adorn this tag were made from orange text weight printer paper and then colored over with brown and turquoise pigment ink. The shape of the long beads are quite different from what most people seem to make and I achived this unusual shape by cutting a V out of the end of the strip rather than making the usual point. It is important to know that how you cut your strip, any notches you create as well as the angle of your cuts always determines the overall shape of a paper bead. There are so many unique possibilities for these depending what you do, and experimenting is half the fun of making them.

Ho To / Distressed Background: The rather distressed multicolored background with the deep red veins is also hand made. I made this by taking a piece of white paper, doing a light wash of ink of several colors like yellow and turquoise and allowing it to dry. Once dry I coating one side of my paper with a layer of wax. This can be the paraffin wax used in home canning, an old candle or a white crayon. After the paper had a layer of wax on it I scrunched it up and twisted it every which way until it looked quite mutilated but still whole. I then brushed on a layer of red drawing ink and allowed it to sit for a bit before I wiped off the excess. The ink settled in the wrinkled portions of the paper while the wax that wasn't affected by the scrunching resisted the ink. After my paper was dry I glued it on to a sturdier piece of cardstock to make a more solid layer for my tag. All of this was super easy yet gave my tag a very distinct look.I hope you like my new tag and are inspired enough to try something like this yourself.

CS Designs The Lovely Loreley

I have been so busy creating new designs that it has been a long time since I have added any new art work to my Doodle Pieces. With that said, I hope you will enjoy my new Art Tag. I created this especially for this weeks Art With No Boundaries Fortnight Challenge. The main focal point of my tag is from my original Ocean / Aquatic Digital Stamp Series. This the lovely Loreley, she is a mystical creature and was born somewhere between Sea and Sky and no one is ever really sure to which world she actually belongs as she seems right at home among the stars or amongst Ocean Creatures. Like most of my art I have colored her with Prismacolor pencils blended with odorless turpentine. The Beads are hand rolled from some scraps of my handmade paste paper. Besides utilizing my scraps, I love the one of a kind uniqueness that hand made beads bring to any art work. The Sentiment is from a song called Loreley by the Renaissance band / Blackmore's Night

CS Designs Fabulous Finds

What can you do with a bit of colored wire and some cheap beads?

I live in a rural community with not alot of great shopping in the art department so I often have to recycle and find ways to make my own unique embellishments. The other day I was visiting a neighboring town and found the most wonderful colored wire for under $3.00 a package. Needless to say I bought every color they had, as well as a small round nose pliers to work with it. What a great day, I was in 7th heaven and then I happened to find a dollar store and picked up some really great beads at a $1.00 a package. Who can resist such Fabulous Finds. I couldn't wait to play with my new toys and have been making my own Head pins as well as little Bead pins which I can use in my art. It's great that you can make such cool things with so little and very little cost. Above is a photo of some of the wire I purchased as well as some of the little Bead Pins and Head Pins I made. I can't wait to try them out in my Art work. Blow are also some of the Head Pins I made as well as one of the little coiled embellishments I though would look good dangled on an Art Tag. Wouldn't these look really cool with a small bead or glass sequent in the middle of the coil. I'm definitely going to have to try that one.

To make these little bits of coolness all you have to do is coil the wire around and around after you get the initial loop. The size of your circle will depend on how many times you coil your wire around and how widely your spread your wraps. The only other thing you will need besides wire is round nose and needle nose pliers and small wire cutters. Sometimes the other two come with the wire cutter part included. I purchased small round nose pliers for about $6.00

Are you into recycling or finding wonderful things to use in your own Art, if so you might enjoy our ongoing discussion Resourceful Recycles and Fabulous Finds on my CS Designs Group on Paper Craft Planet. We'd love for you to come join us and share your inventive Recycling ideas and Fabulous Finds.

CS Designs Lime Pink and White Summer Tag

What can I say, I'm an Art Tag Junkie. I'm hooked and I just can't seem to help myself. The Main Focal point on this Art tag is one of the squares from my Summer Garden Collection

How about Pink Saturday. This is a challenge blog I just found where all the entries are pink. I never really thought I was a pink type person, but I am finding myself doing more and more with this color. I think that even Pink can be Arty depending on what you do with it, what do you think?

CS Designs Color is Everything

Another Unusual Art Tag. This tag used the same Arty Expression #1 I used in my previous post, but the colors have changed dramatically. This time it's all about red and she's gotten a little spidery with here eye make up. The red and black background  as well as the handmade beads are some of my doodle art.

The Color Red:
I have always found the color red very dramatic but I don’t use it as much as I would like. I like the fact that red can be romantic and passionate, have an aggressive attitude or be very hot depending on how you use it. When I saw the Summer of Color challenge on Twinkle, Twinkle, was red I knew I had to submit my Red and Black Art Tag. She is bold, looks a little intimidating and even a little bit on the wicked side. You definitely don't see many like her walking around and hope you like her.

CS Designs Something Different

I just made this Art tag and I must say I have fallen in love with this color combination. The focal point of this tag is one of my original Arty Expression #1 digital designs and although she can be quiet pleasant to look at, here she is has an aura which is  little on the darker side. I always I like to create much of my own elements to use in my art and the purple backgrounds used here are pieces of my doodle art and the green textured background is oil pastels. The beads are hand made, which I have colored with pigment ink.

I had so much fun participating in a few challenges around the web a couple of weeks ago that I decided to try it again this week. Some of the challenges I decided to join this week are quite different from the usual challenges you see all over. You might want to check them out yourself.

Goth, Steampunk and the Macabre:
Forever Night is a brand new challenge blog which is caters to the more unusual, and edgy Art. If you want a break from the usual cute and cuddly go have a look this new blog, their challenges will focus on Goth, Steampunk and the Macabre. Favorite Background: That’s the latest challenge on Vicki Romaine’s Cheerful Stamp Pad. I have always loved making my own backgrounds and have pretty much tried every background technique imaginable even making my own hand screen paper but my all around favorite has to be my hand drawn doodle paper. I use this on everything. It’s quick and therapeutic and looks really cool at the same time. Even the tiniest piece makes a great impact. I used a Pigma Micron 05 permanent black pen but any other kind or color pen will do.

CS Designs Lovely Miss America

Meet Lovely Miss America!!!

She was created for our first CS Designs Challenge for July and her face was created with one of my soon to be released Techno Diva Digital Designs.  This weeks challenge is a color challenge and the main colors are Red, White and Blue to celebrate the 4th of July or Red and White to celebrate Canada Day.

I think the best part of being a Paper Artist is that you're never too old to play with Paper Dolls. It's been a long time since I've made a Paper Art Doll and had almost forgotten how much fun they could be. Lovely Miss America has quite a classy little personality and she has managed to work her way right into my heart.

Hope Everyone had a Great 4th of July and Happy Canada Day !!!

The hoarded supplies use for my Lovely Miss America Paper are the tulle I used for her waist bow which I've had for over 5 years and the design I used for her Face. I designed a series of these called Techno Divas a couple of years ago and just recently converted my original designs to high resolution digitals. Hopefully I will have time to release these soon so others can play with them too.

CS Designs Summer Garden Art Tag

Time to show you another Art Tag I made with one of the squares from the

This was such a simple piece to make. I usually do all my coloring with my Prismacolor pencils and turpentine but since I wanted a more even and intense look I decided to color the outer brown section of the square and the center of the circle with kid's markers from the dollar store. The little white dots were done with gel pen and the petals were just left the natural white of the paper. The more I play with these designs the more I like them. I didn't realize when I created these that such simple designs could produce such dramatic art. Just goes to prove even simple designs with a bit of imagination can make for some pretty good Arty projects

CS Designs Summer Garden Colleciton

Hot off the Press. A brand new digital collection to celebrate the Summer.

I have create this delightful digital stamp collection with the garden enthusiast in mine. The collection contains 4 assorted square tiles and one sentiment. This is my most versatile collection I have created to date and it should become a favorite of those that like Cute as well as those that venture a little more towards Arty. This is a mix and match set and the designs can be used individually or all together. You can mix and match them anyway you want and the creative possibilities for this new collection are endless. Since the digital designs can be re-sized with little or no visible loss of quality they will make great focal points for Cards, Scrapbook pages, ATCs, Tag Art, Inchies and so much more...

I just couldn't resist playing with these myself and I think I'm addicted.

The main Flowers on the two Art Tags above were colored with Prisma colors.
The one on the left was printed on red / text paper from on old catalog and the text was allows to show through. I colored parts of the flower on the right ATC with a white Prismacolor pencil and then applied a Direct to Paper Technique using Pigment in. I then wiped the excess ink off and allowed the white underneath to show through. I also created the little red scrabble tiles that say Bloom.

The Ladybug above is all mine. The ladybug is from the Summer Garden Collection above and I drew the grid background and created the sentiment.

Who says a Square can't be round. The Triple Flowers are also from the Summer Garden Collection and were colored with Prismacolor pencils. The Sprielli shape behind the Triple Flowers is from my manual cut Spirelli Ready to Pint Kit. I still enjoy the look of Spirelli as I think they make the perfect frames around anything. Most of the layers on this card have been recycled from old greeting cards.

Don't forget to check out the last challenge for this month. It is called Celebration of Summer and you guessed it, it was inspired by my Summer Garden Square Collection.

Please come play along in our Celebration of Summer Challenge

CS Designs June Challenges

There is still plenty of time to play along in the CS Designs June weekly challenges so hope everyone has been creating lots of cool entries and we look forward to seeing your wonderful creations. To the right is an Art Tag I made for this months Alphabet Challenge. This month it was the letter B so I used the following in my Tag. Tag Art aka Bookmark, Black, Beads, Bazill paper, Butterfly charm, Brad.

There are also some fantastic example on the Challenge blog created by the Design Team so be sure to go check it out, some will just knock your socks off.

Hazel's Candle Tutorial

Hazel's long awaited Candle Tutorial is here and you can read all about it on her blog. For the candle on the left Hazel used one of my original hand/mouse drawn digital stamps from my Blossom line. I love Hazel's decorative candles and always though it would be so hard to make one of these, but Hazel has done a great job and makes it look so easy.

Hazel has step by step instructions with photos so if you  want to try to make one of these for yourself, please visit her blog.  Just Add Glitter

Imagine Art Tag

This is my latest Art Tag and I created it with the CS Designs May Color Challenge in mind. The theme was inspired by nature and the release of 2 new Blossom designs. Sharon one of my top designers picked this fabulous color combination and think the colors she chose are just perfect for this one. The main focal point on the tag is one of my Arty Expressions, which has been colored with Prismacolor penciles and blended with odorless turpentine. The Imagine definition is one of my digital sentiments. Like many of my other creations I used bits and pieces of recycled greeting cards. All the fibers and beads were purchased at the dollar store. This was a great find and I think they and add a lot to the finished look of the tag.

Please be sure to check out some of the other great projects done in these colors

Lulu's Shopping Bags Card

After spending almost all of my time lately creating digital designs, I am finally getting some time to play with my own paper art. I created this card for a the April 19th, Color Combo Challenge on Simply Scrapping Community and the main focal point is Lulu's Shopping Bags. Lulu is one of my Original Digital Designs and she has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with orderless turpentine.

The color combination for this challenge was Yellow, Green and Teal and I love the fact that these colors blend into each other so well. The Yellow and the Teal combined produced the green for this card.
Another great color combination.
Chrisssie Tobas who is also one of my Designers
has been picking some of the colors for these challenges
and I think she is doing a fabulous job.

Spring Cards Hildie and Blossom

Hildie and The Big Flower Art Tag

I made the Art Tag above for the April Color Combo Challenge on the Simply Scrapping Community. The main focal point is called Hildie and the Big Flower and she is one of my original Digital Designs. She has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with orderless turpentine.
Isn't this a wonderful color combination?

Blossom and Her Spray of Flowers / Spring Card

This card was made for the Simply Scrapping Monthly Blog Hop and the theme was Spring. The main focal point for this card is Blossom and her Spray of Flowers, she is one of my original designs and is soon to be released. I though she was perfect for Spring and hope you enjoy the card. Blossom has been colored with Prismacolor pencils and blended with odorless turpentine. I love utilizing everything in my art and the floral background on this card is a piece of a recycled greeting card.

This post was created especially for the Monthly Blog Hop hosted by the Simply Scrapping Community. This community is a great place to share your art, have lots of fun and meet some wonderfully creative people. If you are not yet a member consider joining and be sure to check out my CS Designs Group while you're there. We'd love to have you join us and I look forward to getting to know you.

Hazel's Candle with Hildie

This adorable candle was made by Hazel Parr, and she is one of my Guest Designers for April. Isn't this just the coolest thing.

I just love what Hazel did with my Hildie and the Big Flower design and when she posted this photo of this beautiful candle on one of my groups, everyone was just dying to know how she did it, me included. I asked Hazel if she would be willing to write a tutorial so everyone could see how she made this gorgeous piece and she very graciously agreed to do so.

The tutorial for the wonderful piece will be available on Hazel's site in May so be sure to visit her site, book mark her blog and become a follower so you will know when her tutorial becomes available.

I can't wait to see how she did this.

Little Babushkas from the Design Team

Some Fabulous Babushka Projects by the Design Team

This is Olga and she has been paper pieces
and accented with some stitching
 Sharon Rogers

Just look at all those fabulous little Babushkas
Sharon Rogers

Oh My!!! Little Natasha  looks like she needs some loving
and I am wondering why everyone is leaving her in the dark
Sharon Rogers

The main focal point of this card is Anastasia
and utilizes my Thinking of you sentiment.
Sharon used a Paper Piecing Tecnique on this card
as well as did a little sewing machine stitching.
Sharon Rogers

Dana used copic markers for this and I think the colors are very festive
The Babushkas used are Anya, Pasha and Olga
Dana Seymour

This card uses Anya, she is the sweetest Babushka
and all the different sized make this look just like the real stacking dolls.

This is Nikita and I love the blue jean effect
and clip and scrap embellishment
 Melissa Oeters
This card also uses Nikita as well as my Dream a little Dream Sentiment.
Melissa has a real flair for flower embellishments and glam
and I think this one is stunning

Melissa Sackman

Little Anya, just seems to pop right out of this card
and that lovely frame really sets this off.
 Theresa Gerber

Chrissie made this Easter Basket for her little girl's second Easter.
What a wonderful and lovely idea. I just love this.
Chrisssie Tobas

Hey, did you notice that little beauty mark on Pasha's Face
Chrissie wanted her to look just like Marylin Monroe
and I think she did a pretty good job
Chrisssie Tobas

Hazel's Pasha card is all glitz and sparkle
and I love the colors and the 3d effect

Yes they're still on sale until the end of the end of April
